Default 93 Dakota transfer case

Hey everyone,I'm new to the forum and hope to learn alot about my first Dakota. It's a '93 LE 3.9 auto 4x4 . The transfer case is broken-literally. Massive chain failure at speed, now the case is in 3 pieces. The I.D. tag was destroyed ,but I understand it is an NP231D. Can anyone help me understand interchangeability between years,or how to identify the case? Gear ratios? Shaft splines? Any help would be great.

Thanks, Doug

93 is supposed to be a one year onlt t case, but dont believe it,you may need to chenge a ujoint flange or reroute a wire but thenewer ones up thru 96 will fit,and a local guy here did put one in a 97,but i think he might have had driveshaft length issues, compare side by side is the best way!

I had heard that one year only stuff, but this is the kind of advise I was looking for. I have wanted to do a side by side comparo of the Jeep version of the NP-231 as well.....looks like I need to head to the junkyard. Thanks
