i think that the brake lines would br the easiest thing to change with a 5 inch body lift, your going to have to raise the radiator, fan, steering linkages, trany linkages etc. my 89 has a stock body lift thats probably 1.5 inches max and they put a plastic detail strip down below to hide the frame from showing, 5 inches and you could probably see over the frame.

1. It would look terrible, your grill and bed would sit 5" above your bumper, heck your whole front end would expose your engine
2. 5" for a Body lift is rediculus
3. If you want to lift your ride that high get a suspension lift (you would regret putting that big of a body lift if one exists)
4.You do realize how much different your dakota will handle and drive. You would have ALOT more drag because more is exposed and it will be so top heavy you would probably have to get wider wheels and tires just to keep the thing up right. Then you would have to get stronger axels because of the extra straign from the wider tires and wheels which would also cause you to lose alot of power from your engine because of the exra weight and drag. etc.

matt s with all the mods you will need to do, there is no way your going to do it for a 100 dollars

BAnders any idea where to get a suspension lift for the older daks, earliest ive seen is for 91 and up, just did my 71 landcruiser and it was a piece of cake, would love to raise the dak 2-3 inches, wish the 3.9 had the power to turn larger tires in the mud, but it would look nice

hey calm down guys, it was just a thought. I probably wont do any body lift on this truck. And no they dont make a 5" bodylift, but they do make 2", 5", and 8" boat rollers that work perfect for a bodylift, much cheaper 2.
