Im currently working on an inexpensive disc brake upgrade kit for the first gen 2wd dakota's. Because I have a lot of free time on my hands before and after work and also during lunch at O'reillyAuto Parts,I have been testing a lol of parts to see what fits. I have come up with a bigger rotor, in diameter and thickness, bigger piston calipers and hoses that will fit it. I am currently working on the caliper brackets right now. Im trying to find a CNC place around where I live so the mockup wil go faster. Currently the bolt pattern is the old '87 to '91 5 lug on 4.5". Which means if the '92 through '96 crowd, like me, will want to use it they will need either new rims, which with 5 on 4.5" its easier to find, or get adapters. Also because of the diameter of the rotor and caliper position 16" rims or bigger will be a must. I have tried a few different 15" rims and the ones I have tested havent worked. Im still trying to figure out price but its looking to be about $350-$450 depnding on the cost of the brackets. When I get the kits ready to send they will be complete kits with everything you should need except for grease, a spindle, and the . It will contain: two rotors; two calipers; two brake hoses; two sets of inner and outer bearings and seals; two caliper brackets; and two install kits which include: the cotter keys, washers, nuts, and the nut cover/lockers; and it will also include two dust covers. The brake pads will also change the price of the kits, I can get a discount on the pads so they will go from around $15 for the one year economy pads up to the $50 severe duty pads.
