Default 94 dakota v6 5spd pilot bearing issues

I am a junior in high school, my friend bought a 94 dakota for 125 bucks and it leaked oil bad. After we got to looking at it we decided to change the oil pan gasket and rear main seal. We ended up pulling the motor and tranny because the clutch was bad as well and the pan would not come out to save our lives. Once the motor/tranny was out andseperated and was now time to put the clutch and pressure plate on and the Pilot Bearing would not go on. we ended up buying three bearings because we broke two. we also noticed that we never took the bearing out in the first place and couldn't find it. what are we doing wrong, and could any one post pics and please explane it to me because I have just about given up.

Thanks in advanced, Robert
