Just bought 94 dakota!!!!
hey boys. i just bought a 1994 dakota and love it! but being the type of guy that i am...what are some ways to get some more out of the 3.9 for fairly cheap (i know, i know). I was wondering your thoughts on air intake system, throttle body spacer, and dual exhaust. I have a 97 ram that I am building a 426 stroker for so i know about the big stuff, just wondering about the easier installes. oh yea... I already put a throttle boyd off of a V8 on it.
Ok so i guess I am just wondering if I approach this V6 the same way I satrted with my 360. Start with throttle body, spacer, CAI, and exhaust and go from there? What products ahve you guys used that have worked best for you?
Honestly I would just save some money and start gathering parts for a V8 swap if I were you. You could invest in an exaust because you can reuse it with a V8 magnum. From what I have read, there isnt very many options for beefing up the 3.9 Magnum.

Go to www.dakotausa.com. It's the best site I've found for 1st gen dakotas.
Your 94 should have MPI so nix the throttle body spacer.
K&N FIPK or home-brew are the only air filter options. You already have the V8 TB.
Porting the intake and TB is cheap but time consuming and changes the powerband.
If you love the truck then you probably aren't having any problems, but I recommend you check for a blown plenum gasket and watch your plug wire routing.
Read up at DakotaUSA, it's all there!

ya TB spacers are junk on these motors.
but since your already doin a swap on your ram..... I would do one on the dak too
I've seen people put alot into a 3.9 and you still dont get much outta it.
iirc jet chip makes a chip for your truck. but I dont know if it would be worth it.

Thanks for the input guys. I just wasn't sure how much alike the V6 and V8 magnums were as far as power gain potential. Never had a V6 before. Thanks for the heads up on TB spacer (never thought they did much anyway).
