dakota over revving
Just got my first Dakota a couple days ago and have noticed some issues that i need to solve before they become a disaster.
info: 91 dakota sport 4x4
1 - I was told by the previous owner that that truck had "high gears"(dont know what he meant). It has no acceleration in first nor second so i end up gettting to 3rd before i get to 20mph or so. once i get to 3rd all the way to 5th it runs fine but i have to maintain my RPMs below 2500 cause when they get close to 3k it just sounds like the engine is going to blow. It just sound like its doing 6k or 7k. just sounds crazy loud. since i always shift up and drive everywhere around 2K rpms it just has no power, which equal no fun.
2 - the oil pressure gauge goes crazy a lot of times. havent really driven it enough to see a pattern. It stays at the low pressure mark and then it drops all the way down and i get the low pressure light. some times it starts flickering back and fort.
Been going through the forum to see if i can find anything related but no luck. Any help i appreciated. Thanks guys.
Anyone in the portland area that knows their stuff, i still have some cash around. Lol. I like this truck and i know its capable of more than what its doing now.
