Towing weight questions...

Towing weight questions...
Early next week, I will be making a run to Ohio with friends to pick up a motor for one of their cars and I was also planning on picking up my project car at the same time...
My worry is the weights on these exceedes what I believe is the amount I am abke to haul.
I am unsure of the actual weight of the motor I will be putting in the bed... at least a couple hundred pounds. And the car that will be on a dolly towed behind is 2,900 pounds.
My truck is a 2wd V8 with a Class III hitch and new front brakes... I think I might be alright, but I wanted to be sure.
