'96 SLT 3.9L V6...only stalls when idle (mostly red lights and stop signs)
I saw a few ppl on here have had a problem with their Dakotas stalling. Mine only does it when idling at low RPMs, mostly anytime my foot is not on the gas. It doesn't do it everytime, but enough to drive me nuts! Also it heisitates here and there when going from a stand still and when i hit the gas, pretty much it goes from a stop and then jerks right action, usually causing my tires to squeal. Anybody figure anything out about this? I've heard the PCV valve, i've heard the CAT, i've heard plenty of stuff. Took my truck to three trusted mechanics and nobody seems to get the problem fixed. Any help, please?!
The hesitation sounds like your tranmission, mine was doing the same thing and i changed the filter, fluid, and added some conditioner and it shifts quick and hard now. mine was stalling when i got it too, run some injector cleaner trough it and drive the **** out of it for a while to clean it out and that should help.
Well i did try the injector cleaner ideaa few times and that doesn't really help the stalling problem. Helps it to a little bit better when I'm actually driving, but the stalling continues. I'll have to try the tranmission solution, hopefully it's just the filter, fluid and what not and not the actually transmission [sm=smiley24.gif]
try a seafoam induction cleaning, if you have no idea what i am talking about or dont know how there are a few people on here that have done how to's, just search for seafoam. Do you ever get on it or do you try to squeez all the gas milage out of it that you can? I have learned that if i dont abuse mine it will build up alot of carbon and run like poo.
I'm here and there about it. I usually try to squeeze the mileage out of it, especially now a day gas prices! But from time to time I'll push it a bit. I'll check out the seafoam cleaning and see what i can find
