I know this isn't a dakota but it has the same stuff.

I'm swaping a 93 318 out of a jeep GC into my 88 Jeep cherokee. The 93 uses the eletronic speedo and my 88 uses a cable. Can the motor and trans function ok with out the sensor so I keep my old cable?

 

ya you will get a code. But it will work. The cruse control might not work if your useing the GC system. My 93 dakota uses a cable for the speedo and Eletronic for the computer. I dont know about GC but maybe you can get a dakota sensor and hook up both.

 

I going to try and use the 88 cruise but it never work before. Since my 88 is older it uses the dam GM style cruise. I just check prices and the 93 dakota sensor on napaonline is 129 bucks and it got different plug. I just wanted to know if it run fine without it.

 

Ya I belive it will. Just with it puting out a code you wont get the best performace but it will be good enough for anything.
