Default cruze control ?s

Okay on my 93 Dakota I am having problems, with the cruze control. It seems to lose power to push my truck while going 75 and rps at 1800-2000 up a hill (Medum to larger size hills). The unit will quit if it needs to go above 2000 RPM, I have to use the petal. Oh corse when I use the petal everything is okay it just the cruze control. I have also down shifteditand manully and It will hold it at 3000 or higher. It seems like its problem is not working inbetween 2000-3000 and will not down**** on highway speedswhile using cruze control.I wanted to know if this is normal for them stock. Mine is no longer stock so I dont remember anymore. I first thought it is the vaccume. I repaced all lines and cecked all connections. Now I think ether the resivar or the unit. I putlower gears (3.9 and 33 tires)so I dont know if 2000 RPM is normal for 75Mph. And I do have a 5.9rt. I did check the vaccume and I cant remember the number but according to my book it was in a good range. At higher rpmsit dont lose too much book said it was still okay. So Is this normal 90s type of junk? and Im expecting too much?

I know the cruise works in conjunction with the Speed Sensor unit on the trans, if you got one going it would cause this sort of problem, I've never known a cruz unit to fail, it's usually something it works with, my my speed sensor went out it rook my speedometer (obviously), OD switch (couldn't turn it off), and my cruz

My cruise does the same thing (not quite as bad though.) Sometimes my OD will just turn off by itself. Its like I hit the button but I didn't. After it does that I just hit the button and the OD turns back on. Also sometimes when I am using the cruise the check engine light will come on but it never comes on if I dont use the cruise. Is it this speed sensor?
