Default '87 3.9 Problems

I am working on a 1987 Dakota LE with the 3.9 and I am having a problem. i have replaced plugs, wires, it has a new distributor cap, the PCV valve is fine, I have tuned the carb and it idles perfectly when in park. I shift into drive or reverse and it chugs and dies. Any ideas? my next step was fuel filter but I'm not sure. Any input would help so much. After the truck warms up it runs fine and shifts without dying but that takes like 2 or 3 minutes of warming up. please help!

some things to check: Ignition coil, coolant temp sensor, carb adjustments. Some carbeurated vehicles just need to warm up before they run smooth

ya, the carb is probly a lil gummed up. I would clean it all up or even rebuild it.
