Default electric fan

i have a '96 2WD with the 5.2L. i have read about a few peole removing the clutch fan and replacing it with an electric fan. how can I do this? will it improve my horsepower or just eliminate the irritating fan noise? im also planning on adding underdrive pullies and putting in a throttle spacer and possibly a cold air intake. as far as the exhaust, it is stock except for a glasspack in place of the muffler. i would also like to add a locker to the rear-end. any suggestions???

Ya I have done both. The locker depends on how much you want to spend. A selectable lockers can be 700-up. I bought a full time locker. A No-slip From powertrax. It works great. Just on the street you have to go easy on the gas on slow turns. But off road and even at the track great performance. As for the Eletric fan. It will Improve your performance. Just you will have to cut off the fan cluch. realy easy. I use 5 eletric fans in my truck. You would be okay with 2 large ones. I live where it gets over 110 and I tow and I like to have the ac on while towing while keeping my engine and tranny and engine oil cool. The trottle body spacers dont work dont waste your money. Thanks for the input. It makes my decision easier. Obviously it will take some work, but it doesn't seem like it will be too hard.

I used two fans from a 1995 Hyundai Elantras on my 94 Dakota. They are 12" fans inwhich only 1 is utilized on the Elantra. They are a perfect fit and keep the truck cool even on 100 degree days. Just find them at a local junk yard, buy an adjustable electric fan controller from Advance Auto Parts, and pick up some black plastic conduit and thats about it. You can also buy some plastic pieces that attach the fans to the stock radiator (just ask about them when you are picking up the other stuff at Advance). I trimmed the upper mounting brackets off the fans just to give it a cleaner look. You will be amazed at how "factory" this setup looks and it works equally well. The hyundai fans even have the factoryyellow warning labels thatmake it lookthat much morelike original equipment. You can do this all for about $100.

A buddy of mine used an electric fan setup from an intrepid and fabbed up some brackets, I can't remember if he had it switched or if he had it setup like an intrepid where it comes on by itself at a certain temp, said it worked better than the stock fan tho
