Default windshield wiper problem

My windshield wipers quit working recently. The fuse is good. I can hear the wiper motor trying to work but nothing happens. I can move the arms by hand. I am trying to remove the access panel to see if anything is hindering it but can't figure out the trick to take the wiper arms off. There are clips and when I pick the arms up a little bit I can get them half out but from there they won't budge. Any suggestions on removing the arms? Hoping the teeth are not stripped!! Any other suggestions why they would not be working?

Ok, I got the wiper arms off. Just had to pull on the arm when the clip was pulled out a bit. Still can't get the access panel off, something is holding it in the middle and I can't see what. I got the screws on the sides and the 5 in the front. The teeth look ok on the wiper arms and on the part that turns them.

Hold the clips out and pry at the base of the arms to get them off....it may take a little effort or the use of a claw hammer (use a block of wood as a backer) but they will come off. I suspect something in the wiper linkage came apart or stripped splines on the shaft.

The wiper linkage is held in place with nylon/polypropalne clip like thingies. They brake after time you can buy them at most ant auto parts store. When you install them make sure they snap in and fully seat in the hole they go in.

My wipers stopped working last winter. It caused me to have to do random stops at gas stations to squigie my windshield. All i did to fix it was i unbolted the motor, and I tryed to pull it out a couple times (it wont just come out) and then bolted it back up and it worked.

take off the wiper arms and see if the two ***** are turning. if not, check the linkage to the motor, if that is ok then its probably the motor.

It was the wiper linkage bushing. Cracked in half not allowing the motor to move the arms. Less than a $5 repair!!

Isn't it great being able to fix a potentialy fatal problem (getting caught in the rain with your pants down)for $5?
