Honestly its more work than is really worth the effort! I went through it on my '90 dak. Paint was peeling on almost every panel. Peeling paint is a bitch to correct. You cant just sand it back a bit and paint over it. It shows through. You have to either sand it to BARE METAL and start from scratch, or sand it back, primer the bare metal parts and sand again until you have a completely even surface. Materials would probably run about $250-$350 if you use the basic stuff. And your finished product only looks as good as the quality of prep work done. If you sand it wrong, it will show in the paint.

Mine didnt come out perfect. it looks good at night or from a distance, but get up close and you can see every imperfection. But for a $400 job, compared to what it was its a huge improvement.

No bondo, it had a few dents that I didnt care about. I just wanted to stop the paint from peeling off. I sanded it as close to bare metal as I could (about 15 hours worth of sanding), primed it, sanded some more, sanded even more and then shot it with a single stage polyurethane white.

the roof was the worst thing to strip on mine cuz it cant get to hot or it will warp. I had to geta new hood for it already so did not have to strip that. I did not think it was to bad, but i was prepping cars at the shop we painted it at... not near as bad as stripping off the factory paint that was peeling off of the hyundai's that were still on the lot!!!!
