When you say "40 thousandths of the heads" do you meen decked or milled down. I got mine .030and I had trubble lining up the intake with 30 thohow was 40 tho. did you bore out the engine? Did you deck the block? I decked my block .015

The heads were milled down and yes it was hard to put the heads on. and the intake took some time to. The block was decked. No i didnt bore the engine out. Its still a 318.

how much you deck the block? Why was it hard to put the heads on. The only trubble would have been the intake.

i mean that the 318 is carbed so it wont use a computer, your truck wont know what to do. the engine and transmission have to "talk to each other".

.040" is borderline for stock pushrods. You might run into low cylinder pressures. If so, you'll be using adjustables.

And FWIW, chromoly rings are not worth it. They take 4-EV-R to seat. I'll never use them again after the blowby issues I had on my 360. They actually let enough past that I hadcrank casedetonationfrom fuel vapor buildup and blew the valve covers off on a hot start.
