Lift Kits for a 1st Gen.
I've seen a few pics in the galleries of some of the 1st gen. Daks. Some look really good. Some are lifted a couple of inches. Now,I don't want a monster truck, but 1-2 inches would be nice. Are there any kits around to do this? Anybody know what else I can do? I saw a kit one time, but they stated it wasn't for use in a 4x4 application. I guess an issue with the front driveshaft? I would like to knowif something is available, or at least tell me what you guys did to your truck. Like, name and part numbers, prices, etc. Any help appreciated.

you can get some extra height in the front tightening the torsion bars and adding coilovers shocks on the 4x4, then blocking the rears. i went with air shocks in the rear as i dont go off road with this truck, its mostly just highway driving now with some towing on smooth roads

you can lift the front with just the torsion bar tightening, but i like the coilovers up front as well. this place buys the shocks without mounts and welds them on when you order so you can get what you want even if the origional manuf doesnt make them for your vehicle. ive only read about blocking the backs, ive had airs on every vehicle ive owned since the early 80's. some people are strongly against them so thats your choice if you go that route, i think a truck should drive like a truck, not some cushy ride.

Ya you can get blocks just about everywhere. You can do add a leaf too. check out http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...003409/c-10101
You can get air shocks too. These are not air bags. So you dontneed an onboard compressor.Check out http://www.partsamerica.com/ProductD...50&PTSet=A
As far as I know the only coil over shocks is an add a coil over. Unless its from some other vehcile. And they dont lift but the do add strenth. I use them on my drigstrip TA to help with wheel hop. Check out http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...003409/c-10101

forgot the link. i found this place reasonable, and if noone carries the shock for the vehicle they will make it for you. i think i paid about 80 per pair made up with the mounts i needed as i couldnt find coilovers anywhere, still pretty competitive.

RE: Lift Kits for a 1st Gen.
Im thinking about tightening my torsion bars, but I have a few other questions.
Will I need a front end alignment after doing this?
How far or how much am i cranking the torsion bars?
Will I have premature tire wear and such?
Anymore tips and suggestions are greatly appreciated.
If someone could list out everything that I need to give my truck a 1-3 inch lift using the torsion bar, add a leaf or block methods, that would be great.

an alignment is best, but not entirely nessary if you dont have wear or pull or drift. If you crank them all the way you will get 1-2 in. Stock keys wont go to far up to worry about cv axle angle. You may have more stresses on supension parts but nothing to extreem. just make sure everything is good to start with. if you want 3in up front you might have to get lift keys. and use 3in blocks. you can buy a kit with ubolts and blocks.
