Default 360 dakoa

has anybody out there tried to put a 360in a dakota. i know an early 360 would replace a 304 small block. (the 304 had a 318 3 speed 727 tourqueflight trannny).imagine a 360 in a gremlin (i owned one), put wings on it and it fly.
there must be lot's of 360 fuel injected vans and trucks out there, the 727 tourqueflight is now with overdrive, it wentfrom the strongest autotranny to one of the weakest. you want power and strenght, go for a727 tourqueflight 3 speed and 360. has anybody out there tried it.

I have a 5.9 360 magnum. To me it sounds like your talking about LA engines. I know a few others that have done the mag. but not LA, or premag.

Ya I droped it in. It is not an option for the 1st gen. dak. I got the engine from a 2000 dakota rt. Great power! It is a easy swap too. just need a donner engine everything will work.

I have the LA 360 in my truck. Backed by the A-500(V6 Trans). Guestimate is Mid to Low 13s in the 1/4. I still need to tweak a few things and add some 4.56 gears and I'll be aiming for Mid to low 12s.

Many people preach the A-500 is useless for this, but I know quite a few 13second and lower vehicles running the transmission. You can also use better gearing on the highway since it has OD.

I was ready to put my 360 in my 88 then I realized that a diesel is alot better and alot easier. I got a 3.9 I4 cummins for acouple hundred bucks and a complete rebuild kit for it is only $500. then I'm gonna twin turbo and intercool it. I should be getting around 50psi of boost. I'm gonna go find a 5 speed manual tranny with a racing clutch. and get a new rear end. and I will still get 25+mpg vs a built 360 that gets 12mpg tops.

Jonnymagnum, your a bastard! Hahaha.. just kidding.
I want a diesel in my Dakota. Actually, I'll go for just a new transmission. Ugh, I don't look forward to replacing my transmission.
