Default New to Dakota got a few questions

I have a 95 dakota, and my 4wd is actin gup. I think it might be the linkage and not the chain because sometimes it will not go into 4wd at all, i cannot feel it engage and other times it will go in fine. Regardless when it is in 4wd it grinds like a son of a bitch. What other signs can i look for to help narrow it down to linkage, vaccum, or chain? What are some simple things i can do?

I know i am not the only one that thinks that Dodge frames are ****. Dont get me wrong i love Dodge but the frames are ****. I have one spot that is kinda crumpled up a little, what have you guys done to kinda patch them up a little? Suggestions?

Could be your hubs blown, does the sound come from the transfer case or the front end?

The sifter lever has an adjuster bolt on it. try adjusting it. as for the frames mine is fine. All of the dodges I came accross are fine. unless they been abused. did you get into an accedent or something?

As far as I know dodge frame's are very good I have been under a dozen silverado's and they don't even use a a box piece in the front and the stuff they do use is THIN! As for my frame Im sanding it and painting it and havn't found any cracks or rust holes

Wow, really? I do live in the rust belt (nor Mich) but just about every Dodge i have been under the frames have just been ****. Me and my buddy have Dakotas and I have a couple other buddies with Rams and every one of them have rusty frames. I just recently replaced my T-case chain, when i put my truck on a 4 point hoist it crumpled a little on the driver side front frame rail. It is enough to scare me a little but I think I am just going to weld some angle iron on it and try to clean it up a little.

The frame arn't trash any car would have rust on its frame where you live because of the salt they put on the roads eats any frame

Well some hold up better than others. I have a 77 Blazer and the frame barely has any surface rust.
