hey new here
look for an engine maker that reprograms computers. tell them year of the engine and casting number. The size heads you have the type carb and intakeyou havewether you have 2 or 4 o2 sensers single or dual exhaustand cat or no cat. They can tell you if they can reprogram it or if you need to buy a different one. Try looking up performance crate engines. These engine companies can usually reprogram them to match their engines but may have one that is compatable.Maybeeven easier. Find a junker that already has one in it.Here is a couple Blueprint engines I think reprograms and customecrateengines.com I think can as well. Hope this helps. They will want your computer for a core like other parts you exchange.
If he's trying to swap in a 340, I highly doubt he's staying with fuel injection. Most likely it'll be carbureted. In which case, wiring is the least of your issues...carbureted engines are so simple it's ridiculous. Put it this way, if you can successfully swap a 340 in place of a V6 you should easily have the know-how to wire it up yourself. If you areinjecting it, just go to the wrecker and find a 5.2L truck and rip all the wiring, computer, sensors etc from it.
