Grill cover??
Well i realized that when i drive to school in the morning..i could have the truck idling warming up for a couple mins before i take off and the cooling fan turns on after a few mins of idling..the engine temp gauge is still on cold, why does the truck do that? and can i put a grill cover on like the one in the attchement so that it warms up a little faster?. (the temp in the morning is around 30 Degrees F. )

Your could try a grill cover but remember to take it off when the outside temp rises again or you could overheat the truck. When I was going to school in freezing Nebraska, I used to shove a piece of cardboard over the radiator in the mornings to help warm up my old truck.
Personally I'd never run one of those covers. I know more than one person who has overheated their vehicle thanks to those. But, your call. As for the coolant fan turning on, could be a malfunctioning sensor? Also if you have a/c make sure it's completely turned off.
I would say just check to see if it is a bad sensor. If you have to just rig up a toggle switch to turn them on and off manualy. Since its an eletric fan you dont need one of the covers.
Well i wouldnt have it covering the whole grill, i would leave mabey 1/3 open, so i dont think it would over heat and about the fan, where would the sensor be? i dont want to rig a toggle switch because doesnt it run when idling and when under a certain speed, then shut off when you get up to that speed because the air just comes through the grill itself? thats how i thought it worked...and if it does i dont wanna have to turn it on and off.
and thanks for the help!
and thanks for the help!
Fan on and off is dictated solely by temperature. Speed plays no part. And I believe there are two coolant temp sensors, but I could be wrong about that. In any case they're not expensive, replace them anyways. As for where, they'll be in obvious parts of the water jacket system, but I don't have any diagrams to show exactly where.
