Dual exhuast on a 1996 dakota
I was wondering if there is anyway to put a dual exhaust on a 96 dakota with out breaking the bank and alot of trouble. Want to put headers on it an run dual but am having trouble any help would be awsome
well from what i hear running a true dual costs you power on the low end..i have the 96 to and im looking into just replacing the muffler with a single in, dual out and putting duals out the back so that i dont have problems with insepction if i run no cat. but im sure theres a way to do a true dual, but i wouldnt know..

I'm running duals on both my Daks, to have BOTH done cost $800. Not true duals, but duals nonetheless

Which motor? If it's the V6 I wouldn't even bother with headers and just get a cat-back exhaust system. Cat-back is about 150 bucks. 1 in 2 out.
To run true duals with mine, the headers, fabrication and tips ran me around 800 dollars. This is on a V8
Unless you can fabricate, you'll need a muffler shop to run true duals, if that's what you want.. you have to take the drivers side and bring it over the tailshaft of the transmission and down the passenger side of the truck due to the fuel tank.
A common misconception about headers is they truly dont help out until you are turning higher rpms. So I would stay away from them if you want reliability. On my 93' 3.9Lit cost me about $400 for 3" Aluminized Pipes off the exhaust manifolds, Magnaflow Cat andMuffler, Y-ed in to two2 1/2" Aluminized ExitPipes. Had a pretty sound and def gave the engine alittle more power all around.

The thing I like so much about my dual system is that it's not like everyone elses, it seems like everyone out where I live has the same dual exhaust system and they probably paid $200 for them, I paid more to get what I wanted, not what was available
i have a single in dual out flowmaster on mine with no cat. it is the same exahust i had on the v6. here is a link to what it sounds like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GyTrKplN0ZYclick on my other videos if you want to hear the v6, it sounds way different and the only thing changed is the v8 manifolds. but i am about to get a set of headers and JBA y-pipe pretty soon.
