bogs under load

Default bogs under load

i jsut bought a 92 dakota 4x4 5.2, and it was fine when i test drove the car, but now that ive been driving it, it has a problem goin up hills and accelerating under load it also sucks on gas, it bogs and the exhaust pops, anyone have a problem like this before??? HELP!!!!

The bogging down could be a bad catalytic convertor. Usually, if you go under the truck and hit the cat with a mallet, it will rattle if it's bad. On my cousins S-10, the cat was bad, and the truck could barely make it up a hill by my house, ran that cat off, and all was well .

the cat does have a whole in it, i jsut put a new air filter in it so its not that, will a universal cat work fine?? can i jsut take the cat out and put a test pipe in??

you could put and leave the "test pipe" like alot of people do, depending on your views and where you live that is. just make sure you plug that copper pipe comming out of the side of the cat too, if your going to "leave" the "test pipe" in like i did
