same here fox, i got a 1995 escort i picked up for $200 dollars, looks like a pos but it get 35mpg all day!!!

Thats how my friends dads GMC work van is. Gets 13MPG no matter what.

As far as the beater car, I've definitly been thinking about getting one. But I live in an apartment, and ain't got no place to put it. It would really help when in a "bad situation" like I'm in right now, with my (trans change) project being a little more involved than I thought. I'm just happy my friend lost his license, now I get to drive his car.
