94 dakota air intake
I was wondering if anyone modified there air tube from there air cleaner. I just finnished playing in the mud and during my encounter my truck actually stalled i took the top off the cleaner and there was about 1/2 a liter of water and well everyone knows water plus engine is BAD! Well enough rambeling I was wondering if anyone had moved it or did anything to stop this problem. Crazy I'm hoping you got my answer casue by the look of your truck you play a bit in the water.
i got an extra dakota for parts, until now i never thought of using that extra intake tubing to reroute the air intake to the front windshield pillar, like on the hummers the army use.
what year is your dak? because an 89 to 91 simply move the computer and mass air flow sensor to the back firewall, connect it all, and your good for off road. the only problem is don't expect a lot of airflow on the highway. milage will drop and so will power. if you use it mainly off road like mine go for it.

Ya I got ya! For Mud and water I put my stock air filter back on. I have put the hose on the other side of truck. I have the tube mounted next to the battery. I cut back at the bottom of the intake at the tip so air will come in at the bottom. I have put a small sheet metal at the botom of the battery tray. So when I hit a water puddle If any water comes in to that direction the sheet I put blocks it. But does not block air. And any water coming down will not be sucked in because of the cut on the bottom and the tube is over air not over the sheet where water can puddle up. So far it has worked perfectly. Oh ya one more thing make sure you have it bolted down tight and a rubber gasket ontop of throttle body and put sylicone to seal the pcv hose to the body as well as the main intake hose. Post up some pics lets check out ur truck
hey crazy, could you post some pics of your intake? i changed mine up a little and ill post some pics wen i get home. i wanted to put the intak on te battery side but didnt know te best way to do it.
Thanks man
Thanks man
I'll take some pics of it when I get home... if you don't mind crazy if you could show me a pic of that air setup so I can use it as reference. I also have a parts truck so I can mod my intake how ever needed because I well have a second one.. BTW mines a 94 with the wonderful V8.
I've just been using an open air element, got rid of the tubing and I've never had a problem when off roading, I'm always taking on big puddles and stuff. The filter I use is cheap, so I just change it out if it gets too dirty, but it's never gotten wet, yet
not sure if I wanna do that... I'm running a K&N filter but on the other hand it does have lifetime warr. I think I'm just gonna do as crazy said and move it to the battery side and put a shield around it to stop water from splashing in. I used to work out a welding shop but my father still does so I can get anything bent and molded to make it look pretty. Why did you slice the bottom of your tube crazy?
