Default Oil Pressure

Does anyone know what causes your oil pressure to rise. For awhile now when i drive my 94 318 dak my oil pressure will rise to almost the end of the gauge and sit there the whole time im driving. Shouldnt the needle in the gauge only ride about half way?

Sounds like a spun bearing, although the gauge is known to be dumb. My truck used to read low, to the point where the light would illuminate, but didnt make tapping sounds from low oil pressure. Does it make any funny noises? Do you lose power? The gauge should be around half

No the truck runs good, no noises or vibrations or anything. Maybe the gauge broke idk. Im just kinda afraid to take on a long trip, in case something is wrong.

Change the sending unit just to be safe; $20 and 20 minutes of your time is good insurance! The sending unit is on top of the block at the rear of the engine.

Def a good start, it is easy to unhook and unscrew from the back the engine. You might have to remove the air filter to see it

Sounds like a sending unit to me too, and if it isn't, it's $20
