brake noise
took the dak to the shop because the left front brake is making a scraping/squeaking noise-almost like the squeak tabs. they checked it and said the brakes were good and the rotor was a little rusty. they said they fixed it but when i drove it home, i heard it again at about 15-25mph. im fustrated, any ideas?
If they said they fixed it and it's still making the noise they said they fixed, then maybe you need to take them for a ride in it so they can actually hear it, sounds like they didn't make a full effort to correct the noise.Could be a caliper starting to stick, my '95 did that a couple years ago and I went thru so many pads and rotors until I looked into the calipers, I ordered 2 calipers and replaced both sides and the issue went away. Could also be a worn spindle, sometimes the caliper will still continue to work correctly but if the threads in the spindle are jacked the caliper ends up going out of alignment and causes unneccessary wear on the pads which could also cause them to squeak while braking and/or driving. I had to use a heli-coil on one of my spindles so the the caliper would sit correctly (before the calipers started sticking).
went cruising with my wife and little boy sat. night and i pressed on the pedal and it felt like kickback- similar to a chainsaw hitting a knot. anyone ever had this experience
The other thing you might check is the journals that the caliper rides on. If the caliper gets stuck in the same spot long enough it will create a dent in the journal and it will make the caliper stick. My dads chrylser recently did this. Make sure that you grease the journal with some good high temp grease.
could be rotor has run out...or has slight warp, caliper slides could be sticking, could be the journals, where the pads set, need a good cleaning greasing, could be irregular wear on the pad, cracked pads will also make a noise
