Durango Rims on a 1st Gen
Just got me a set of 16" rims off a 2003 Durango SXT and swapped them onto my '94 2WD. Check it out below. Only 2 minor problems with them. (1) They rub a little on tight turns, but they do have bigger rubber (245/70/16 as opposed to the 235/60/15) than they did have. (2) And as you can see in one of the pics, the dust caps on the front stick out too far to put the center caps in. Other than that, they fit like a glove, and now I have 16's on my truck. Lol... oh, and one other thing, I got about an inch and a half lift out of the swap. Not sure about the 2nd gen 'Kota, but if you can get a set of rims from a '98 - '03 Durango, they fit our trucks.
oops... forgot to add the pics.

Looks great!
After I had to have a lug nut/wheel stud torched off, I had to get one of my rims replaced. They didn't have any of my style rims at the shop (work done at dealer, rims got from another shop), but they had 4 of those style rims. He said he'd trade me straight-up for my 3 good rims, and I'd just buy the 4th. Got the tires all mounted up, and left the shop. As soon as I pulled out, I could hear a noise coming from one of the front tires.
Took it back to the shop (by this time he was closing up), and as soon as we took the front tires off we found the problem: inside of the rim was rubbing against one of the caliper bolts.
So, I never got to have the differant style rims, just have one flawless and three that are corroded where they put the old wheel weights (this guy put the wheel weights on the inside of the rims so the corrosion happens where you can't see it).
Oh, and the thumbnail images is a known issue, and hopefully will be fixed. After that attack a few weeks ago, things just haven't been the same.

I had those bigtires on my truck and i have fun doing some tight turns. So I change the tire to low profile tires 225/55/16 and nowI have lotsroom for turning.Thedust caps you have smash it downand the control arms you grind it alittle, because you'llbe rubbing your tires.I like how it looks on our dakota's,butthe turningthe front tires you'll be rubbing your inner fender and the control arms.
I forgot you also can put some 17" R/T rims on our dakotas..Check out Dakota-Durango.com there are few square body dakota with some R/T rims

There are different issues for upgrading to the later years Dakota/Durango 15" or 16" rims, as well as the R/T17". It all depends on if you have a 2WD or 4WD first gen. Dakota.
1. You won't have the front wheel center cap problem if you have a 4WD.
2. I upgrade to the 15" wheels (samediameter but much wider width, it's an 8" vs. 6.5"), up front I have to trim the caliper bolt a bit, as well as the control arm linkage. The rear has no problem.

3. I tried the 16" wheels (same as jlbritt1photo) on my 4WD, it has no problem, no rubs and no trimming. >>> You need to change the tires size appropriately to match original overall diameter when changewheel size.
