How much is it worth?
I have a 1996 Dodge Dakota Sport 4x4. There are so many new parts i couldnt even name them all. It has 155,000 miles on it now and its looks good. It has the normal paint flaking for a mopar. See in the pic. Also the passanger door rusted this winter. The head liner is starting to fall and its pissing me off. Anyone know how to fix that?
Im just wondering how much you guys think its worth. the interior is spotless. The check engine light is on because of a bad O2 sensor. Also it needs a set of tires.
Im asking 3000

That's a really nice truck, some things that I see that could possibly be derailers for the 3k asking price are: According to Kelly Blue Book what your asking is the trade in value for your truck in excellent condition (well equipped), and fair condition (what I would honestly rate your truck, sorry man tellin ya like it is) has a trade in of 2240, which isn't bad in my opinion (I had a trade in on one of mine go as low as 800, and another for 1500, ouch). Private party is a little better, for excellent it would or should go for 3990, in fair 3100, and for dealer retail, they'll sell it for 5090 in excellent, it doesn't give a "good" or "fair" value. When I pulled these values up I also "assumed" your truck was fully loaded, top of the line, if it isn't the value is going to change. Similar trucks on autotrader go for 3300-3500. If I was arguing with a dealer over the price, I would aim for 2500. The reason I say that is, the check engine light, regardless of what it means is a deterrer not to mention just having the light on is grounds for emissions test failure in Illinois and several other states and even for some state inspections, the sagging headliner, not a biggie, but if there were two trucks next to each other and otherwise identical, which one would you buy? the perfect headliner or the sagging one? It's human nature, unfortunately for us. Then the paint on the roof it's gone thru to metal as it's starting to rust. The tires also tell a story too, how they are worn could give away things like alignment issues or ball joints, not saying your truck does cus I don't know, but a good eye will know. The mileage is another thing especially for me, the first question I ask the dealer (if the truck is nearing or is over 100k) is was the tranny replaced or rebuilt recently? Especially on the '96. The second question is usually what the truck was used for, towing? playing? commute? Overall, I think you've got a really nice truck sitting there, one that would turn my head twice and I think you'll get the 3k, list it $3500 or even $4000, you can always go down if you need to, you've got the year working for you, '96 is one of the more popular years ('93 was probably the best, in my opinion), the truck itself is "rarer" than the often seen club cab, and its a 4x4. I've bought too many Dakotas, and have talked the price down on all of them for the same things listed above, my '95 was listed at 6k and i got it for 3500, my '93 was listed at 3700 and I got it for 2100, had another '93 listed at 3800, got it for 1800. Don't take my criticism to heart, I've been told by my friends (and family) that I'm a tough buyer, so I hope, if anything, this helps in your quest to sell your truck. Good luck, let us know how it goes, and also what you get to replace it (if you are)
