To all who responded and helpd- Thanks!
It ended up being 2-fold problem. One frayed wire in harness between Engine compartment and dash (through Firewall) and to add insult, the positive Battery post was corroded so the alt. would not charge the battery. (cost a broken mounting bolt on the alternator to find this out!)

now she runs fine, starts every time and I can drive at night!
