tranny slipping

Default tranny slipping

i was woundering if anyone might know why my tranny is slipping it will happen randomly and i was thinking i might need to change the fluid or the tranny filter if any one knows what might be the problem let me know cause its getting annoying

Might be low on fluid.... i would change fluid and filter and while your in there adjust the bands....if that does not help then it is age and miles need to have the clutch pack replaced....

yeah i would probly try that and the truck is a 1993 and it has 201+++

make sure all your vacuum connection are done and connected btw any you know if you can blow a head gasket by diving throough water i gota 95 dakota prerunnner 2.5l and every time i drive through water or splash it to hard my truck kinda studders is it possible for it to get in air intake box ?

well im goin to be puttin new tranny fluid in i was woundering how much i need to put in if anyone can tell me that would be great

johndakota, it sounds like you ARE getting water in your intake, you need to re-route your intake, or put a snorkel on the f-er, LOL. BTW, I think you hijacked this thread...

As for the trans slipping issue, start small, check fluid level, try changing the filter/fluid, maybe get a trans flush so you get the fluid in the TC, and if that goes to no avail, time for a rebuild or a new one, especially at the age of your trans

i forgot i recently checked the fluid level and it is low so that might be whats causing my problems so i was woundering if anyone knew how much fluid i should put in to my tranny cause i have no clue and i cant check the owners manual cause when i bought the truck i dident get one with it

Put enough to where it will show full on the dip stick. Start with 1/2 qt then check and add until it says full. You add the oil thru the dip stick pipe will need a funnel. When you check the level have the engine running inneutral with the break on.
