Sparkless
Ok now I am about to go postal. Finally got the new(used) engine in my 93 dakota. Theoretically it came from a 93 jeep. It is the 5.2L same as was in my dakota. Everything is hooked up and I get no spark.
I am open for any suggestions?
Have checked coil and it is good. New cap and rotor. It appears as if there is no juice going into coil, but I am strictly a novice mechanic and dont have the tools or skills to test actual voltage.
All other electrical seems to be working fine, radio, lights, air cond.
If nobody has any good ideas I will be cutting wires by the pcm in the morning to try and hardwire to coil. Hope that is not too stupid?

i'd suggest buying a cheap multi-meter. you can get an analog for as little as $10 or a cheap digital for $10-20. is there a service manual for your 93 dak available ? it would have all the wiring diagrams in it. go slow...
Most likly its the ASD Auto Shut Down realy. Its probaly not getting power. Like said above, get a meter. Check out the FAQ in this sectioin for servace manuals as well as wireing diagrams. Do not cut any wires untill you check everything. like relays fuses powerwires.
The relay could still be bad even if they are clicking. All it needs is for one of the 'contacts' inside it to be pitted and it won't work properly. could also be a bad splice too. Like said earlier, a multimeter will help you a ton, if everything looks fine at the relay, check the splice, it's most likely turning green and causing loss of power

Have had a mechanic test the wiring and still no answers. What is the chances that the jeep engine is not compatible with the dakota computer? If not is there a reasonable to determine what direction to go?
If jeep engine is not compatible with dakota computer why would changing computer work with all the other dakota components?

Obviously the engine itself is compatible, but the coil or distributer might not be,and the sensors, like crank sensor or cam/hall sensor? But it sounds like some wire or wires in the harness are not the same.
