What would be the odd of this happening?
I have an 89 dakota 3.9 with the 4 speed auto. Every time I go from park or neutral to drive, even with the brakes to the floor, the back tires give a loud chirp and the entire truck lurches forward. Happens when I put it in reverse as well, except it lurches backwards. I just recently had to replace the rear end due to a snapped diff. carrier. Thank that could have been the problem? I found TSB 21-13-90 (attached) and that seems to fit the bill.
Now, for the question... What would be the odds of me being able to take this into the dealer and have it done at little to no cost. Money is tight right now, and I have no way to pay a huge labor bill, but I also do not have the money to buy a new rear end if it snaps again. On the TSB it states that it is an internal defect in the transmission, but also it says "Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty". Does that mean I'm out of luck, since the truck is 19 years old, with nearly 200,000 miles. Also, I wouldnt really feel comfortable doing the work myself as I have never done ANY transmission work, and really very limited mechanical work.
Any input on the situation?
Bah... 19.5KB max size for a PDF?

If you replaced the whole rear axle assemby the rear brakes could possibly be worn out if its a used assembly, or perhaps not connected properly or they could need to be bled. It sounds like when you have the brakes against the floor your only engaging the front brakes. As for a dealership, nothing is cheap there, not even diagnosis.
Right now im not too sure what it idles at, since my tach is going out... have to bang on the dash or take it above 3000RPM to get it to move. I'll hook up an external tach to it either tomorrow or saturday and see where it is, but I dont think it is idling too high.
I've bled the brakes a few times already, as well as the ABS valve thing thats back there. I guess i'll have to jack it up and take the rear wheels off again and check all that again. Just a bit of a pain having all the air-tools, but a busted compressor, and having to use the stock jack (have a floor jack, but the handle got bent)
