Default 1994 dakota club cab speaker wires and radio

Hi all,
Thanks for helping me get my lighter fixed.
Now, another problem.
The speaker behind the drivers side does not work.
So i went to walmart and p/u two cheap new 8 inch speakers.
I had to cut off the old speaker connector, and put on the new connectors.
Speaker works, i install and put the grill back on and.... NO sound.
So, i took it all apart, tried the second new speaker, No sound at all.
I wonder if the speaker wire is broken somewhere, or the radio speaker connection for this speaker is bad.
How can i retrace the speaker wire to the radio?
It somehow goes thru a hole in the chassis, and then where?
Cannot goe thru the door, because it is behind the drivers side in the club cab. Maybe thru the door sill ?
I appreciate any and all help.
Thank you,
Ozzie.

so are you saying the speakers did work and then you put them in and they stopped? and i guess there are the speakers in the club cab part. to run new wires you can come out of the radio and run them under the the door sill and up in the molding. that is how i have my wires run for the satt. radio and sub.

Ya I belive they are wired under the door sill. So the new one did work, but when you mounted it, it didnt work. If you got more connections I would say take off those ones you used and connect them directly with the wires to test. Then trace the wire down and see if you can splice into the line.

I would say check your fuses as well, the wires might have crossed, blowing a fuse or something as well.

You would think the wires would run in the door sill and molding that's how I would do it hahaha.

what kind of 8" speakers did you get?

Default Re. Speakers and wires...

Dodgy, I got 8" Roadmaster speakers (2), and even so they fit, the "magnet" in the rear of the speaker might hit the chassis. Maybe another source of trouble.
Anyway, thank all of you for replying and helping me out.
Tomorrow in the afternoon, I will try out all your suggestions.
I will let you know how I make out.
Thanks again,
Ozzie from Philly,Pa.
