I have an emergency! Plz help
I went on vacation and I'm 7.5 hrs away from home. Filled up yesterday to make the drive home and 50 yards from the gas station, my 91 Dakota with 5.2 L just died. I have no spark.
Changed cap, rotor, plugs, wires, coil, and crank sensor.... still... no spark comming from the coil. Coil is getting power, and has ground. All grounds are good.
Checked for resister on firewall and there is not one that I can see.
Anybody have this problem, or seen this problem before?
I've already blown a day of work. The truck is in a shop right now, but they can't figure out what's wrong with it either. I really need to get back home.
Tried a third coil.. and same thing. No spark comming from the coil.
I have lots of fuel. Problem is definatley a no spark issue.
Please help if you can.
Thank You.

And I quote from FAQ1
"Truck will not start- A common problem in the trucks, primarly ones made between 1993 thru 1995, was failure (corrosion) of the splice that feeds battery power to the automatic shutdown (ASD) and fuel pump relays. If these relays do not get battery power, your truck will not be able to start. This could also cause intermittent problems, orcould possibly"kill" the truck when driving down theroad. The splice is located underneath the Power Distribution Center (PDC), which is the black box located behind the battery. (See pictures below for approximate locations)"

I am still getting power to the Coil when the key is on. Could I still get power to the coil with a bad ASD relay?
Just went to shop and checked error codes. None of the codes given really have to do with spark.
Here they are in the order they were given.

However, I do not understand code 35 because I do not have electric fans.....

Yes, you can still get power to the coil with a bad ASD, my '92 is living proof of that. You need the ASD circuit to be complete or there will be no signal to tell the coil to send a spark. If it's not the ASD relay itself, then it's most likely the splice, my vote goes to the splice nentioned earlier, it could also be the fuel pump relay or circuit.
I had the same problem with my '92 until yesterday (11/11). I know you said you checked your grounds, but I replaced the one going from the firewall(passenger side) to the rear of the motor with a heavy guage wire from the firewall to the nut on top of the motor up near the a/c lines just to see if it would work, and the truck fired right up.
Mechanics say computer is gone. Looks like truck is going to the bone yard. Time to buy a new car so I can get my sorry *** home.
