VHT NightShades for tailights
I havebeen meaning to throw some pics up of my "new" tail lights. I used a 13 dollar can of VHT nightshades paint and some 1500 grit sandpaper. i think they look better than the clears, but my truck is pretty dark too.
To do it pull the lights off and scuff them really good with some 1500 to 2000 grit sand paper and just spray as many coats as you like, i did 3 coats on the regular lights and 4 on the center light. could have went darker and there is plenty still in the can if i decide too. front side marker lights are next.
1st coat
3rd coat and 4th on little one
daytime
night tail lights
night brake and reverse
the cops have not messed with me about them, even had one pissed at me for doing a burnout in advanced autos parking lot and said nothing about the lights, but have some other colorful things to say...lol. even if they do say something the DOT numbers are still on them so you could say that is how they came

Looks good, you tinted the 3rd as much as I did. I thought I did mine too much though.
I would've taped off the reverse lights though, that's just me. It seems to pop more IMO, it's what I did on my Durango.
I agree if it's just left as stock Euros. Add some Niteshade to it and some of them can look quite nice.

I've been researching this cuz i'm doin it too... I just need to get new tails cuz I f****ed mine up and I need a replacement driver side headlight bezel. I'm going to do all the turn signals and running lights aswell.
There are other ways of doing it. some say that TESTORS model paint is the best (transparent black window tint) it comes in 4 ounce spray cans.
The other stuff is called JDM smoke spray. With any of the stuff you use you want to go over it with a clear coat of some kind to get the best results. If you have access to a 2 part catalyzed clear it'll probably last many many years.
