Well for me it did. Mine were rounded off too. They grabbed and loosened it up. The nut remover is made of a stronger material than the nut so it will dig into the nut. And hold. The teeth go smaller as it goes in so it will grip even if it was made completely round.

that happened to me but it was with a locking lug nut!!! they dont make bolt extractors big enough for those, so i had to break out the air chisel and it got them off fine, did not mess anything up either!

I agree with the air chisel if you have one available. I've done that before. Just hit the lug nuts at an angle so that the chisel digs into them and knocks them loose.

I know this is an old thread but I'm at my wit's end on this. I've got a 95' grand caravan and two of my lugs were stripped and stuck. I've tried just about everything. Bought the grip tite sockets, hammered on smaller sockets, I've even successfully removed one bolt by drilling it out with carbon drill bits. But now my bits aren't cutting. Isn't there a way to remove the drum along with the wheel so i can just grind the back off the lug bolt and remove it that way. I've looked at the back of the assembly and taking off the rubber covers I haven't been able to find the brake shoe tensioner.

Shouldn't I be able to get to it from the back, or should I just go get new bits and hope they work.

If you want to try and get to it from the back, the easiest way might be to pull the entire axle shaft out! Take the differential cover off, pull the center pin out of the differential, push the axle inward far enough for the c-clip to fall out, and then slide the entire axle with the brake drum and wheel attached out. It might work.

If it was a normal rear axle you could pull out the C-Clips to completely pull out the axle shaft. But it being a Grand Caravan it is front wheel drive and the rears are fully sealed.

Like I posted in the 1st page, I suggest these.

These have a reverse teeth that dig into the nut while you remove it. It worked perfectly for me. Here is a pic of them. You can get them at Sears or anywhere online.

You can try a nut splitter. I'm not sure if you have enough room for it though.

If needed you can use a small cut off wheel like this one.

How good of a welder are you?
We have welded nuts to the lugs and twisted them off that way.
