Default Escapades of the Cursed Dodge Dakota, nearing finalization!

My 1995 Dak was a $500 truck, with 260K miles on it now.... When I got it, it was just barely running. I've changed out spark plugs, wires, entire distributor, battery, headlights, transmission seals, thermostat, cleaned the entire throttle body and have invested alittle bit over $400 all said and done into it, counting tools and such. Soon it'll all be done. Oh, forgot the stereo install. The truck had a mass of wires sticking out of the din and we've wired and installed a cheapie but nice JVC head unit in straight from Walmart.

All that's left at this point is diagnosing the heater problem (likely blower motor), exhaust and tires! The blower motor is kind of a boring topic....but exhaust, that isn't boring...

The catalytic converter is shot. It's no doubt clogged out. The muffler is shot. Because I am an ex-MO emissions inspector, I will not do anything illegal and cat's don't hurt performance much (if any) so it'll get replaced However, I want the truck to sound badass and have less restrictive exhaust, so I'm thinking a glass pack and a downturned tip. Thoughts? Suggestions? I'm on a budget and expensese over $100 are pretty much out of the question, atleast at this point.

I'm almost sad that almost everything is fixed...I kinda like working on it.

I hear that! I'm about done with a good amount of work on my truck. I replaced the oil pump, rear main seal, transmission seals and changed all the fluids. The good news is it's about time to drive it again. In my honest opinion, I hate glass packs. I think they sound aweful. I have a series 40 flowmaster on my truck right now that I love the sound of. If it were me, i'd wait on the exhaust til you can get something better than a glass pack.

Its always great get done with something. Now that it is almost perfectly fixed you can start modifying it. I would also suggest a flowmaster 40 series. I have one it sounds great. Most glass pacs are to loud for a street driver. And most cops will constanly check you out! Some may give tickets for to loud! They dont care!

As for the blower motor you were speaking of, before you get a blower motor for it, take a look at the resistor on the pass side of firewall, this is a common problem. As for the exhaust, flowmaster is the way to go in my opinion, loud, but not obnoxious. On my '95 I've got a 3" pipe that starts right after the "Y" and goes into a 3"IN 3"OUT Cat, then into a flowmaster (believe it's a 40, I forget), then out with 2 2" to the back. I can get all sorts of notes out of it, it's great.

Believe it or not, I'm actually not a fan of the flowmaster sound unless its on a V8...the only exception to that is my buddy Matt's Gen2 Dak, and that sounds great. He's got the full catback though.

I'm on an awfully small budget so everything has to take expense into consideration...a $60 flowmaster vs a $20 cherry bomb....you see where I'm going with this. I'm not even too concerned with the sound- I am doing it for the reduction in exhaust pressure. I don't mind be cheesy and cheap... The truck hit a deer and I haven't repaired the cosmetics yet! Yes, I am cheap-***.

Oh, once I do repair the cosmetic damages.... What do you guys think of a military camouflage pattern being painted on the truck?

Anyone use high flow cats?
