door hinge

Default door hinge

Ok if I figure out why my truck won't start I will need to have my door hinge repaired the weld on the door is cracking out I can weld it but the question is do I need to take any precautions and disconnect anything before I do I'll be using an arc welder I do have oxy\acetylene also

Most will say disconnect the computer. Others will say just disconnect the battery. Some even say its okay just weld it as is. I would suggest disconnecting the battery. On these trucks its easy to unplug the computer if you want. I have welded with out disconnecting nothing and most shops dont disconnect anything when they have to. But hell it only takes a min or 2 to disconnect just incase the higher voltage gets to the computer and fry it.

Yea, to be on the safe side, I would disconnect the battery and the computer. Quick to do, and in the off-chance welding did do something, you'd be out some big money....
