Question Spindle nut size?????

Sorry to post a new thread just for this but I have searched and called everywhere to get the spindle nut size for my '96 dakota 4x4. I need to know the size of the socket, before I just go and buy a bunch of them for 20 dollars. Thanks for any help I get. Anthony

I guessing your talking about the cv axle nut. It is 33mm. Its better to get a deep socket and impact quality. Some are super tight. I have an air and electric impact and they couldnt brake it loose. I broke 3 braker bars on it. I just went to a tire shop and asked them to use their higher grade impact with my socket, it worked.

Hey man thanks for the info. I ended up really looking at everything and just disconnected the cv axles from the front axle. I just needed to lower it down to get the oil pan off! Although I have broken that vacuum line fitting that goes into the passenger side axle tube. Does anybody know how that gets changed out? Believe it's that vacuum tube for the 4 wheel drive. Thanks again.

That's actually not a vacuum tube. It's just a breather tube so as the differential heats up and cools down it can breathe.

i did some front end work on a 4wd dak once and the nut was not bad to get off cuz i had a big impact, but the CV axle snout that goes into the hub was rusted in so bad i had to beat on it forever with a 40oz deadblow and broke a CV axle remover tool on it!!! just figured i would share, and just get some robber hose to stick on there so you dont get water in your diff if you go trough deep puddles.

I guess I'm lucky! My hub nuts came off easy, as did the CV-to-axle bolts. And she slid right out, no problems. No power or air tools, either.
Granted, using a 3-foot long cheater pipe really helps with those hub nuts!

Yeah I would just add some tubing but the fitting broke off flush with the axle tube, so I can't attach anything to it! Would I just EZ out the fitting because it almost looks as though it's not threaded in (can't really tell though). Anyways thanks for the feedback guys, I really appreciate it! Also all of my bolts and nuts have come off entirely with hand tools.... well besides my exhaust pipe (had to bust out the sawzall).

my b, did not know it broke off flush. i guess it would be best to easy out it like you said if it is threaded, if not drill and tap it for a small threaded pipe.

So does anybody know if that is threaded or not? I really can't tell. Just have it laying on the floor until I find out. I'm just putting the tranny, trans case and drivelines in till I find out. Thanks again for all the help and support.
