Default Blower motor resistor

When I purchased the truck, the blower did not work at all- lo and behold the blower motor resistor was bad. I replaced it with a new unit from O'reilly AP and its blowing again (when the ducting was correctly re-installed) but I've only got power at maximum and one step below that; the two fan settings below that do not work.

I'm not complaining; but any thoughts? Maybe bad "new" resistor? Wiring harness that attaches? Thoughts? If anyone else has experienced this, I'm all ears (or eyes on the net).

PS 1995 ext cab, 3.9L 2wd.... But I doubt any of that matters for climate controls!

It could be corroision in the wiring harness, I had that problem before my resistor went out, then I fixed it, then the resistor went out. I only had low tho.

Apparently this is another one of those common problems with these trucks. Mine would get fried whenever it got excessively wet. I got tired of replacing the damn thing so I went to Radio Shack and picked up a project box and encased the resistor in that. I haven't had to replace it in over a year. See pics below.
