Default 95 sport

about 2 months ago my truck was running fine, then the fuel guage started to gibble up. then eventually the pump was working on and off until it finally quit. well just couple days ago ive gotton a fuel pump stuck it in, hooked it all up and was expecting the truck to fire right up, it didnt.
no power to the pump.

ive read about the ASD relay, i stuck power to it and it clicked. i dont have a volt meter tho. could i just replace that because it isnt that expensive and it should fix the problem? is there a reset type of thing on the relay?

just weird how the pump was working on and off then eventually died. but how does a dieing/dead pump effect that relay?

thanks

The ASD relay does not control the fuel pump. The fuel pump has its own relay. I believe there is a fuse for the fuel pump. Check that first. Next check all wiring make sure it is clean and is not pinched or cut and all connectors clean and connected correctly. If it works and stops it sounds like a shorting wire or a lose ground wire.

I agree 100% with what Crazy4x4RT said, and to add one thing to it, if the wires were shorting out chances are the short popped the fuse.

i have checked the fuses. they seem fine. i see the fuel pump relay next to the asd relay. i was switching them all around because there the same relay and the truck ALMOST started up. like it coughed a bit. all wires that are grounded in the engine bay look fine. i guess i could get under neith and truck the pump wires for any damage.
i have even put gas in the engine to see if it even pops. not getting any spark either.

like i said the relays click they seem fine. ive heard of by passing the relays but havent got it to work. there is sopost to be a guy coming over to check out the wiring, i guess he has magic fingers.

could be simple as a wire. I also got problems with the headlights. they dont work at all. soo ill search it all up and down! thanks!

Just so I understand, You're not getting spark and the fuel pump isn't turning on.

Have you checked the splices under the PDC in the engine compartment? I know I suggest that alot but it seems to be the root of all things bad electrically with these trucks.

The fact that your headlights are having problems too is not symptom it's another issue.

i still dot know what a splice is.

but ya i took apart that box and looked at the wires.

but right now im thinking it could be as simple as a bad sensor.? o2 sensor or camshaft sensor or what ever one.
