Default Piston Compatibility

Will aftermarket pistons for a LA series block work with our magnum blocks?

I was looking at getting these pistons for the 5.9 build I'm doing...

...but they're on backorder and they keep pushing back the date they should be getting them. In fact, all of the 4.030 overbore pistons for the magnum engines on summit are on backorder.

Now I'm looking at these...

... but summit says they are for the pre-magnum engines. All the numbers seem to match up so I was wondering if they would work for my build.

the only thing i could think of would be clearence issues with the different heads, but i have always heard that the rotating assembly is the same in the 2 styles. I would try calling the tech dept. at summit, every time i have called they answered my question. or call the guys at KRC Performance, they are really helpful too.

Well, I've changed my mind one more time... after reading review after review after review I've found out Speed Pro makes a much stronger, more reliable, and overall better piston than Keith Black so I've decided to go with these:

I'm still gonna call the tech dept to find out if there are any differences in the LA and Magnum pistons and I'll post what I find out.

Yeah, I barely have the money to build it, so I definately have no money to supercharge or turbocharge it. The only reason I'm getting new pistons is because it blew a head gasket and burned one of the pistons and scarred the cylinder wall (which is why I got the engine so cheap). I have to get it bored at least .030 over to get rid of the scarring. But with the cam I'm gonna put in it and the 1.7 rockers I'm really hoping its gonna be at least a 400 ft-lb motor (I don't care as much about hp)

i know what you mean about the money, lol. and you should just be sure the heads are good and smooth and mod the intake and throttle body and 400ft lbs should not be a problem.
