crank questions
wil a factory 360 crank work in a 318
my reason for asking is that i was thinking of keeping the stock bore in my 318 but putting a 360 crank in it to get more displacement/compression due to the longer stroke in the 360 i was also considering getting the full federal mogul .030 rating ***. to take my 318 up to a 350 but i dont really want to bore it just stroke it. another ? would be if the pistons/heads would colide w/ each other if i were to put the 360 crank in my 318

I can tell you that the 360 crank will fit, and the connecting rods are the same length. I can't tell you if the pistons will work, it depends on how far from the top the wristpin hole is located. Since they have the same rod length but different strokes, chances are the 318 pistons would sit too tall. Someone else may be able to tell you for sure.

ALmost everthing is interchangable between the 5.2 and 5.9 magnum engine blocks except for the crankshaft, oil pan, and pistons. Since there are no special parts that allow the 5.2 to the 5.9 size and do not try to bore the 5.2 mains out to the 5.9 size Another reason not to use a 5.9 in a 5.2 is the 5.9 crank is externally balanced whereas the 5.2 is internally balanced.
Now mopar does make a aftermarket crank for the 318 either cast or forged. The strokes being either a 3.58" or a 4.00". They are expensive but worth it

i know some of the stroker kits i have seen say they will use 318 pistons still and some not. i would be cool to put a 4 inch crank in the 318 and bore it. make a 390! but machining the crank down that much could weaken it too much in my opinion because of the oil galleys, and like fox said the are balanced differently. even if your got a machine shop to make every thing to make it fit, it would be cheaper to just get a 360 or build a 390. and more reliable
