Default getting rid of all the emmissions junk?

Hey guys, I want to get rid of all the unnessary junk under the hood, but im not exactly sure what can go, i dont want to trip any codes with the computer. i dont have to worry about passing any crazy tests like in cali, so what ever you would pull off for a race motor is the idea any "how to"s out there?
thx

There's not really much because the computer "monitors" all of the emissions stuff and basically all of the sensors and electrical components are there for emissions standards in either a direct or indirect way. I know the cat can go for sure, but I'm not really sure anything else can w/o trippin any codes.

The EGR should be able to go... it will trip a code but on my truck the light doesnt stay on, it just stores it so its there whenever you run the codes. Right now I have the EGR code cause the valve has failed but when I do the 5.9 swap I'm getting rid of the system completely.

You can. When I did my 5.9 swap I got rid of it all. But I kinda wish I didn't. With the new engine there is no EGR placement. And alot of my vacuum lines and emission hoses were cracking and needed to be replaced. So I trashed it all. I keeped the electrical hook up plugged in. I keeped the vacuum purge solenoid hooked up. I get code 32 (EGR system failer) every so offten, mostly when I drive on the highway for over a hour. Thats the only code I get. I trashed all the rest. Now the charcoal canister takes gas vapors from the gas tank and saves it to be used later. Now Due to not having the EGR which will save gas and the vapors wasted from the gas tank that wastes more gas. I do have the vapor line closed up but it always looses some. The gas cap is meant to release at a certain pressure.

So in all I say if it is working properly do not remove it. This summer will get back up to $4, and we all need to save every drop.

the line from the gas tank to the canister is mia lol, and a lot of stuff wont last much longer. so instead of fixing it, i just want to get rid of everything.
also, this truck used to have headers the po said one side leaked so he put stock manifolds back on, (and i actually have one good header that needs a partner as he trashed the bad one) but im not sure if he did it right. is this part of the egr system? if it is, its not doing much now anyway lol. im not too familar with this stuff, and my haynes manual doesnt go into great detail on it

Yes that pipe is for the EGR. And looks like that exhaust manifold is from a 97-up v8. So it doesn't have the holes drilled out for the EGR.

so thats why my 88 3.9 has a hole in the exhaust manifold. I could tell that it originally had all the egr crap and whoever owned it before me just threw all that crap out.
