http://www.turboneticsinc.com
I would give them a call and let them help you with the best set up for your truck. I don’t really know how to calculate the size of a turbo for an engine. I cheat and use this: http://www.squirrelpf.com/turbocalc/
I am just using a set of headers and attaching piping to them and Y into a turbo housing. There are some intercoolers on ebay that I will try to stuff behind the grille to cool it. Just make sure you blow off valve and waste gate are bigger than what you need. These are items that I would not skimp on. If they fail at the wrong time you will for sure hurt the engine. If money plays out this summer (grass cutting) then by fall I will post some pictures of my home made turbo system.

Turbonetics turbo are cheap and have had both bad a good reviews. I am willing to try them. Oh, you also might just get a turbo off of a 94-98.5 12V 5.9 cummins. They woun't be good for top end power but will sing off the line. Try to get you a 12sq cm exhaust housing.

there are some videos on youtube that i have seen and a guy put a turbo from a 6.2 older chevy deisel on his ram with a 318 and it was a little too small but still gave him good boost. one thing you have to do is make a check valve where your map sensor vacuum ports go into the throttle body so it does not blow, and you will need a 4.7 volt zener diode between the power out put and ground for the map plug. just some stuff have i picked up over the years, you can google it and they explain it on the youtube videos as well. nd you will need and msd box of the equivilent to retard the timing as the boost comes up so it wont detonate.

I am running a carburetor and a MSD ignition with a timing computer. Detonation is not going to be an issue. The MSD billet distributor is capable of being locked out and I plan to lock it out and just use the timing controls capable of handling boots appellations.

I think the best timing management systems are boost controlled. At low boost you have enough timing so that the engine will perform its best until boost increases. Once the boost starts to increase the timing will back off to what ever you set it to. I have herd some people who tune put 20 degrees in and leave it through out the rpm range regardless the boost. I am a little worried about predetination. I want my timing to drop out as boos increases just to be sure.

cool, i am planning on keeping the stock fuel system with a secondary fuel pump inline and an adjustable fuel reg. since mine is in the tank. aeroquip make a nice setup i have been looking at that is automaticly adjusts for boost. and for timing i have been looking at the msd BTM, it does just what you said 408, have used i on a buddys turbo car we built and it works great, you can tune it on the fly for the amount of retard per PSI.

Ok so as soon as grass season (toy money) starts up again, I will start the new project. I will post as I go. I am sure it will take a while so don’t be surprised if it takes me until mid summer to get it rolling. I figure I need around $1500 just for the turbo, bov, and waste gate. As soon as I get the money for these items it will began. I will also try to make my self build a jig as I go so I can build others. I have always wanted to build some so this might be my chance.
