Flex Pics (just for fun)
Ya it is! I just bought one from napa. Drilled holes and used silicone on the holes. Ran the wire through another hole in the middle and ran the wire to the brake switch. I always wanted the tail gate one!
Dang that suxs it broke on you. I wanta see it take a pic of the broken section.

Too bad you live so far away, we could trade tailgates! I hate that third brake light. Actually, I have a tailgate off a '91 that I shaved the handle on and it just needs paint, but the law around here requires a third brake light on my year truck, and my camper shell has one I'll wire up, but I need one when I don't have the camper shell on there.
ill get some pics tomorrow. i didnt get a very good look at it, but i picked up some "shrapnel" and a steel ball off the ground. it was cold, dark, snowing, and after several tries to get some traction(boards, scraps of steel, branches ect) to back out, i said f*** it ill pull it out with dads truck in the morning. one tire is stuck in the snow and the other 3 are on a sheet of ice. if i have to run it as a 2 wheel drive for awhile im welding the spiders in the rear. i hate it when you have one wheel spinning.
If you're going to do a solid axle swap, you should go ahead and put a locker in the back. Welding up the spider gears will imitate a spool and be a very rough ride on the street (I know cause a buddy of mine has a spool in his s10). I put a dana trac lok limited slip diff in mine (and I love it!), but you might want something more along the lines of a locker.
if i do the sas ill get something better for the rear like what you have or a d60 so i can gear it for the tires. this will just be a temporary thing where i would take out the broken stuff and run it as a 2 wheel drive (spooled for traction).
i think im going to try replacing it. my dad was telling me he had to do his at around 160 000km. theres 270 000 on my truck and its hard to say if they have ever been replaced. for around $200 i can do both and get a lifetime warranty. so if they break right away, ill make a drop bracket, if they break again, ill go solid. i didnt snap the axle, it broke the cage. this was all that was left
im having issues getting some flex pics... mines only 2wd and we just got a blizzard (which is just starting to clear up... 2 days later) and all the snow is too soft still, i keep just getting stuck! doesnt help that my back tires are so bald either lol. meh, ill try again when the snow clears or hardens a lil..
