Default superchips

so i was browsing around and... i found a superchip for the 1998-2002 dak. my main question would be, do you think it will work for the 1st gen dak? i would assume only the body is different from the 2nd gen, but not too sure.... i dont wanna go out, buy it, and find out it doesnt work on my truck. mines a '93 3.9

Actually, there is a lot of differences between your truck and a 2nd gen. The 2nd gens have a completely different computer with OBDII programming and a different connector. The best direct swap option for these trucks is a mopar performance computer (although they are very very hard to find for the 3.9s)

i was told the performance comp wont run the v6. i dont see why it wont tho, mainly because all the 318 is, is 2 more cylinders than the v6. grr, all i want to do is make my v6 faster until it dies without putting parts and stuff i wont need on the 318 in. my thoughts on the perf. comp. not running the v6 are, why not? you would think it just wouldnt run the 2 other injectors or fire the other 2 plugs because they arent hooked up, or is there more info on differences that im missing here...?

EDIT: found this....

http://store.summitracing.com/partde...5&autoview=sku

think its a good idea? it apparently works for my v6. a little skeptical tho....

There were a small number of v6 mopar performance computers, but the v8 MP computers will not run a v6. The v8 computer is timed to fire those extra injectors, so the firing order would get messed up after the 1st revolution (and I don't know off the top of my head, but I would guess the firing order wouldn't match to begin with)

I have no idea how good that thing would be, and just my $0.02... $300 would not be worth it to me on an old engine thats getting replaced with a v8 soon, but thats your decision.

I just put that PCM in last week and it works great. Well, the Mopar one for the V6. I don't think anything else woudl work in the V6. What else made a big difference was the larger throttle body off of a V8. Putting in my K&N air filter this week.

I actually bought it off somone over at the bionic dodge forum. I think there was a sponsor over there that had them listed on their site but didn't have them in stock.
