Just keep in mind that a truck has much stiffer suspension than a car, and while they are built to take abuse off road and you probably won't break the truck, it is not comfortable to hit a bump at a high rate of speed cause the stiff suspension does not do a good job of soaking up bumps, especially when the truck isn't carrying a load.

and it also depends on the severity of the bump. i find its more a judgement call.. if the bump is to the point where you wouldnt hit it in a car, chances are you shouldnt hit it in the truck either, but the truck will take it better than the car. if its just a little hump in the road, youll be fine. and this is coming from someone whos supension is shot lol

I have also found that having the 4X4 suspension makes it easier to deal with bigger holes in the road. Here in Chicago our roads are like swiss cheese now with potholes, and there are a lot of potholes I can take with it that I wouldn't dare in a car, but at the same time I try to miss them if I can. Sometimes you just can't go around though. I think holes are a lot different than bumps, say railroad tracks. I barely slow down if at all for most bumps.

thanks for the replies, Basically I mean potholes in the ground. I was driving with my boyfriend and everytime we go over a pothole in the road or dont slow down on the railway tracks hes liek ughhh ... and gets pissy that the truck cant handle that. And I mean its an amazing truck well the tires and everything i dont know about the shocks but i dont think i should avoid it the way he says i should....

like i said before, its all in your judgement. if the pothole is huge, try to miss it, but if you cant, the truck can handle it. its always better on the suspension to miss holes, but if you cant, you cant, just dont make a habit of hitting them

On another note, I have never broken anything on my truck from hitting a hole, and I only have 31 inch tires. I have owned my truck since 2005 and I just recently had to change my pitman arm, idler arm, one tie rod, and a ball joint. I drive it pretty rough too when it comes to hitting holes. These trucks are remarkably solid, in my opinion. When I changed my front and rear shocks last summer it made a big difference in keeping my tires on the ground.
