2001 B1500 van, 5.2,,, removing the complete AC system, is there a kit to replace compressor with a pulley or do you just run a shorter belt?

 

I think most folks just run a shorter belt. There might be an a/c delete pulley out there, if you wanna stick with the standard belt size.

 

I don't want to add a pulley,,, just not sure if running a shorter belt would work or if it needs to be routed different. Any idea on the belt size to use without compressor?

 

Get a seamstess tape measure, and measure how long it needs to be.....

 

Unless it's been removed or the top of the radiator panel has been removed, there should be a belt routing diagram. It usually shows both with and without the a/c compressor. The belt will be shorter for non-air set ups.

 

Is it best to go with a pulley or without, with a shorter belt. Dont want the belt coming off. Anyone out there who is running a shorter belt without the pulley?
