Unhappy no reverse:(

i dont know wut broke but i can feel my truk shift to reverse and if im in a flat lot it wil barely move in reverse but anything other than that it wont move and i will have to push it backwards. wut i dont get tho is that i can still feel it shift but it wont move. im thinkin its the band but im not sure that thats what it is. any suggestions? and i also need to know if a trans out of a 96 2wd 5.9 ram will fit in my 93 5.2 dak and still be fully functional? please help me out if you know

Have you checked the fluid level?

The '96 transmission won't work... it has an electronic governor in it that your truck is neither programmed nor wired to run (yours is all hydraulic).

It may be the clutch or low fuild level. In the FAQ there are 2 transmission diganosis link.

Probably but not neccessarily. Each gear uses a different amount of fluid depending on which lines the pump has to pump it through. It's probably the clutches like Crazy said, but you should always rule out the obvious things first.

also if you need fluid try lucas. machanic in a bottle, been using on a going out trans for 2 years now. when i put in reverse i have to let it build up pressure before giving gas takes few seconds, but cheaper than a transmission. i am going to run this one in ground and then swap for a manual, that way i never have this problem again.

yeah i may try that kuz when you put it in reverse and let it set for a second then hit the gas it winds up like its in neutral but it moves a little bit but not w/ much force and not very fast at all, i already run the lucas tranny fix in my power steering kuz the seal where the steering shaft goes into the rack leaks and p/s fluid leaks out too fast and the trans fix is thicker and rele doesnt leak at all now

also another question i have is if an older 727 off of a 440 will bolt up, i know its all hydraulic and it has a long tailshaft but im not sure about the bolt pattern and the shifter linkage, and the vehicle speed sensor that is in the side of the 518 trans, idk if its the same on the 727, any answers on that?

NO, the Big Block (361, 383, 400, 426, 440) will not bolt up to a small block, the bolt pattern is not the same.

Heres a thought... You already have the 727, so what about finding a small block bellhousing for it? I don't know if it will work or not, or if the rest of the sensors will bolt up, but it might fit the motor if you can change the bellhousing.
